Actors of all ages, abilities and ethnic backgrounds (unless specifically stated) for all roles.

PREPARATION

3 minutes total- strict time limit. 2 short (1min) contrasting CONTEMPORARY monologues or 1 (2min) monologue; preferably from a published play (NO original compositions, NO classical monologues)
MUST bring Picture and Resume, stapled together

EVAN – 40’s, African-American, a parole officer.

JASON – 21/29, white American, of German descent. A steel worker with deep working class roots. A white supremacist.

CHRIS – 21/29, African-American. A steel worker, Jason’s best friend. Warm, cheerful and youthful.

STAN – 50’s, White American, former steel worker now running a local bar. A tough character, unwise to cross him.

TRACEY – 45/53, white American (female). Funny, brassy, likes to be in control, opinionated.

CYNTHIA – 45/53, African-American. Focused and ambitious, Tracey’s friend since they were teenagers. Chris’s mother.

JESSIE – 40’s, Italian-American. Female. Former hippie, alcoholic and often depressive.

ERICKA BOAFO - senior in high school; Light/fair skin; transfer student and is new to school. Seemingly nice but has a streak of mean layered in. Must be able to sing.


AMA - senior in high school; the sensible, smart one of Paulina's pack. Is not afraid to say it like she means it.


NANA - junior in high school; the shy and simple one of Paulina's pack. She struggles with her love of food and snacks. CAST.


MERCY - sophomore in high school; the witty sidekick to Gifty and will do and say anything to stay a member of Paulina's pack. CAST.


GIFTY - sophomore in high school; the 'Frick' to Mercy's 'Frack'; loves being part of Paulina's pack and will do anything to be considered cool. CAST.


HEADMISTRESS FRANCIS - 40's; the Headmistress of Aburi Girls Boarding School; cares for the girls with a stern yet nurturing love. CAST.


ELOISE AMPONSAH - 40's; Extremely poised, witty, and overly confident. former Miss Ghana 1976. She now is a recruiter for the Miss Ghana Pageant. She speaks with a slightly affected British accent. CAST.
