Valeria Levi – (She/Her) Jewish, White. Art history professor. The character is early/mid 50s. Also plays her character at early 80s. Competent, extrovert professional devastated from ex-husband’s infidelity. Presenting a strong face for the sake of her daughters but a well of pain inside.
Davide Levi – (He/Him) Jewish, White, Italian. The character is mid 60s. Also plays his character at 87 years old and then 22 years old. A mensch. In his older age: ALS has taken away his ability to speak, but not communicate. In his younger years: despite being a holocaust survivor, he chooses optimism, vitality and hope. A romantic, larger than life.
Paola – (She/Her) Jewish, White, Yugoslavian/Italian. The character is mid 60s/early 70s. Also plays her character at 85 years old and then 20 years old. Tough. A practical, pragmatic survivor. Has not seen the same horrors as her husband but also lost many loved ones. Old World elegant, grounded, unapologetic.
Devorah Levi-Katz – (She/Her) Chinese-American, Jewish. The character is early/mid 20s/ Also plays her character at age 23 and then mid 50s. In younger age: the good daughter who returns home after college to help take care of the family. Caustic, contained, uncertain. In her older age: matured into a rabbi with the power and certainty of an Old Testament prophet. Skinnier than her sister Yael.
Yael Levi-Katz – (She/Her) Jewish, White/ The character is early 20s. Also plays her character at age 19 and then early 50s. In her younger age: Liberal, Ivy League student conscious of but still victim to her privilege. In her older age: a doctor and mother who chooses protecting her children over her faith.
