BREAKDOWN

JANELLE, Female Identified, Black, Late 20’s-Early 30’s. Marketing and Communications Associate. Wickedly smart, funny and quick. Full of potential but hasn’t found her direct path to success and what she wants. Has a hunger and is driven to get the most out of her life. She wants yet fears stability. She is sensual and has a great sexual chemistry with her boyfriend KANE. She exudes a sense of warmth but can be fierce in a moment when she is fighting for her convictions.

KANE, Male identified, Black, Late 20’s-Early 30’s. JANELLE’S Boyfriend. Non Profit Consultant. Practical, hardworking, and steady. The essence of a “good man”. Knows his priorities and knows how to live them. At times his duty comes up against his true desires. He enjoys not being the alpha in relationships. Withholding is how he claims power in the relationship. His essence is warm, kind, honest and forthcoming. Grew up in the church and holds space for spirituality and faith in his life. He is sensitive and aware of his vulnerabilities. Does not need to posture masculinity. His love for JANELLE is deep and meaningful.

BRIAN, Male identified, white or white-passing, 30’s. Waller County Police Officer. He is warm, sweet, unassuming, goofy and playful. Has never left his small town in Texas. His sense of himself is bigger than he is. He hasn’t had to work very hard to succeed and often wins. He is hungry for attention and love from women and can be territorial. Seeking actors that are comfortable with poetry and/or rhythm/rapping.

ELISE, Female identified, white or white-passing, Late 20’s. Waller County Police Department Administrator. She is an aspiring music artist wanting to get out of her small town and do something with her talents in Nashville. Emotionally immature due to the lack of opportunities she’s been given to go outside of her comfort zones. She has something to give to the world and she is wasting it in this job in this town. A dreamer. Her imagination allows her to escape. Open and vulnerable with others. Has a strong sense of moral self. Seeking actors that sing well.

TRISH, Female identified, white or white-passing, 40’s-50’s. Waller County Police Department Administrative Officer. She has lived a life. She escaped her small town only to return. She pushes down her true wants and dreams. She often feels invisible and has a strong desire to be seen and heard. She follows the rules, but it doesn’t seem to pay off. Deeply cares for others and acts as a mother figure to many. She has now begun to lack patience as she is tired of waiting her turn in life though she is not interested in pitying herself. A strong, centered, and tired woman.
