THE ADULTS:
MISS HANNIGAN: The orphanage matron who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter, and cold. 30s-50s. Vocal Range: A3-F5.
GRACE FARRELL: Faithful secretary to Mr. Oliver Warbucks. Poised, sweet, gentle. 30s-40s. Vocal Range: Bb3-G5.
SERVANTS: The servants at the Warbucks mansion. Includes Drake, Mrs. Pugh, Mrs. Greer, Cecille, and Annette.
BERT HEALY: The ultimate radio personality. He helps Annie by broadcasting about the search for her birth parents. Age: 30 to 45. Vocal Range: E4-G5.
ROOSEVELT: The 32nd President of the United States. A Democrat and friend of Warbucks. Age: 40 to 60. Vocal Range: Eb3-F4.
ENSEMBLE: Singers and dancers for features including Servants (Drake, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh), Boylan Sisters, Mr. Bundles, Star-to-Be, Cabinet Members, Hooverville Citizens, etc.
Warbucks: CAST. A successful businessman with a warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish. Gender: 40s-50s.
Rooster:
CAST. Miss Hannigan's no-good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy, slick con man. 30s.
Lily St. Regis:
CAST. Rooster's girlfriend, who is also out for a quick buck. She is considered to be a floozy and bimbo. 20s-30s.
THE KIDS:
ANNIE: A streetwise orphan. Spunky, friendly, big voiced. Female-identifying age 11. Vocal Range: A3-G5.
ORPHANS: The other girls in the orphanage with Annie. These girls are gritty, neglected, and vulnerable, yet honest and loveable. Includes Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy. Ages 7-14.

MRS. BUMBRAKE / TEACHER: Mrs. Bumbrake: Molly's nanny, outfitted with the duty of teaching Molly about womanhood. She still has enough charm in her age to attract a sailor or two. Doubles as Teacher. Age 40-60.
BILL SLANK / HAWKING CLAM: Bill Slank: The vicious orphaned captain of the Neverland. Does not possess the capacity to lead anyone but himself, which puts himself constantly in disaster. Greedy enough to send boys to their doom for the chance of gaining starstuff. Doubles as Hawking Clam. 20s-40s.
ALF: A seafarer, an old sea dog proud of his tenure. His kind heart gives him an appeal to the feminine sensibility. 30s-50s.
CAPTAIN ROBERT FALCON SCOTT: Lord Aster's old school friend, the captain of the Wasp, Britain's fastest frigate. Lives with nautical bravura and heroic patriotism. 30s-60s.
LORD LEONARD ASTER: CAST. Molly's father, a loyal subject to the Queen. The very model of a Victorian English gentleman, he is a faithful friend and a secret Starcatcher. 40s-60s.
BLACK STACHE: CAST. A notorious pirate, terrorizing the seven seas in search of a worthy adversary. Heartless, hirsute, and suspiciously well read. Partial to the poetical and theatrical, which causes him to behave quite flamboyantly. 30s-40s.
SMEE: CAST. Black Stache's first mate. He is single-mindedly dedicated to his captain's every whim. 30s-40s.
FIGHTING PRAWN/GREMPKIN: CAST. Grempkin: The schoolmaster of St. Norbert's Orphanage for Lost Boys. Mean and malodorous, he revels in keeping his boys in the dark and malnourished. Doubles with Fighting Prawn.
THE KIDS (the following roles will be cast with young actors):
MOLLY ASTER: A young girl and Starcatcher apprentice who is taken aboard the Neverland as precious cargo. Curious and intelligent, she is only beginning to understand the confusing romantic longings that come with her age. She will risk anything for the sake of what is right. Ages 11-15.
BOY (Peter): A lonely and hardened orphan who doesn't miss much. Nameless, homeless, and friendless at the beginning of the play and a hero by the end. He wants a home and a family more than anything and dreams of a life of being free. Ages 11-15.
PRENTISS: An orphan, ambitious, hyper articulate, and logical. He yearns to be a leader, even when he knows in his heart that he'll never be one. A bit of a blowhard with a touch of cowardice. Ages 12-18.
TED: An orphan obsessed with food. A natural performer with easy wit and quite poetic language. Ages 12-18.

TRUVY JONES: The owner of the beauty salon, Truvy is a vivacious and wise woman in her 40s, known for her generous heart and willingness to dispense advice with a generous helping of hairspray.
ANNELLE DUPUY-DESOTO: Initially timid, Annelle is the young, newly hired assistant at the salon. She undergoes significant transformation throughout the play, evolving from unsure to a more assertive and even religious character.
CLAIREE BELCHER: A wealthy and sophisticated widow in her late 50s to early 70s, Clairee is the former First Lady of Chinquapin Parish. She's known for her sharp wit, love of sweets, and close friendship with Ouiser.
SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE: Shelby, in her early to mid-20s, is known as the prettiest girl in town. She's strong-willed, passionate, and faces a challenging medical condition (diabetes).
M’LYNN EATENTON: Shelby's mother, M'Lynn, is a practical and intelligent woman in her 40s. She's fiercely protective of her daughter and deeply concerned about her well-being.
OUISER BOUDREAUX: A wealthy and eccentric curmudgeon, Ouiser is in her late 50s to early 70s. She is known for her quick wit and sharp tongue, but also for her underlying love and loyalty to her friends.

NARRATOR / MYSTERIOUS MAN: An intellectual and pleasant storyteller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience. Vocal Range: G2-E4.
CINDERELLA: A young, earnest maiden who is constantly mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Vocal Range: G3-G5.
JACK: The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost a man.' He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed. B2-G4.
JACK’S MOTHER: Browbeating and weary, Jack's protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed. Vocal Range: Bb3-Gb5.
THE BAKER: A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles. Vocal Range: Ab2-G4.
THE BAKER’S WIFE: Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors. Vocal Range: F3-G5.
CINDERELLA’S STEPMOTHER: The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella. Vocal Range: A3-F#5.
FLORINDA AND LUCINDA: Cinderella's stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother's footsteps of abusing Cinderella. Vocal Ranges: C4-Ab5.
LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD: A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, and fearless, yet youthful and naive. Vocal range: Bb3-F5.
CINDERELLA’S MOTHER: Deceased with her soul guarding and aiding her daughter from a tree. Vocal Range: E4-F4.
RAPUNZEL: A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world. 20s. Vocal Range: B3-A5.
GIANT: Voiceover. The Giant's wife is an angry and vengeful monster. She is seeking restitution for her loss.
THE WITCH: CAST. Sarcastic, ugly-then-gorgeous, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive.
CINDERELLA'S PRINCE/WOLF: CAST. Prince: Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing. Wolf: Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey.
RAPUNZEL'S PRINCE: CAST. Just as vain and gorgeous as his Prince brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exciting endeavor.

PLEASE NOTE: Every actor in ONCE is required to sing and play at least one instrument. Some instrument assignments are set in stone, i.e. “Girl” must play the piano and “Guy” must play the guitar. BILLY: A music store owner who allows Girl to play piano in his shop. Opinionated and loyal to those he cares about. Plays guitar. 30s.
REZA: Girl's vivacious and flirtatious roommate. Plays violin. 20s-30s. Vocal Range: D4-A5.
BARUSKA: Girl's mother. Loving, generous, and idealistic. 40s-60s.
BANK MANAGER: Corporate on the outside, but artistic on the inside. Plays guitar and cello. 30s-50s. Vocal Range: G3-B4.
DA: Guy's father. A caring man who loves his son. 50s-70s. Vocal Range: G3-E4.
SVEC: Girl's quirky roommate. Plays drums and guitar. 20s-40s.
ANDREJ: Girl's roommate. A big dreamer. Plays guitar and bass. 20s-30s. Vocal Range: A3-F#4.
EAMON: A Dublin music studio manager. Plays guitar and piano. 20s-50s.
EMCEE: Host of an open mic at a Dublin pub. Plays guitar. 20s-50s. Vocal Range: C3-D4.
EX-GIRLFRIEND: Guy's ex-girlfriend. Wanting a better life, she's moved from Dublin to New York. Plays violin. 20s-30s.
IVONKA: Girl's daughter. Age: 6 to 10.
GUY: CAST. A down-on-his-luck musician in Dublin. He is lovesick and lost. He loves making songs and playing guitar but is ready to give up. F#2-G#4; falsetto up to C#
GIRL: CAST. A determined and witty dreamer. Girl has come from the Czech Republic to Dublin for a new life. She is passionate about playing the piano and making music. 20s-30s. F#3-B4
