BREAKDOWN

[CHET SIMPKINS]
(Male, 20’s-30’s, African-American) A timid African-American young man. Elderly at beginning and end of the play. Must be able to play 17 (secretly) for most of the play as he begins training. Must be able to be aged believably. From 125th Street in Harlem. Hard-working and quietly confident. Truly in love with flying and understands the poetry of it.

[J. ALLEN]
(Male, 20’s, Afro-Caribbean) Bahamian Airman, from the British West Indies. Very British and very proud. Motivated by his father’s own unfulfilled dreams. Eager. Competent. Must be able to do a Bahamian accent.

[BOMBER PILOT REYNOLDS]
(Male, 20’s-30’s, Caucasian) Midwesterner. Also plays an instructor and Col. Snopes in Part One. A leader. Learns to deal with fear and to appreciate those who have his back.

[BOMBER CO-PILOT SHAW]
(Male, 20’s-30’s, Caucasian) Southerner. Also plays the Staff Sergeant and the Barman in Part One. Newlywed. Has never met his little girl. Proves to be a team player despite events from his past.
