Breakdown

SEEKING (for possible future replacements in the currently running Broadway production):

J.M. BARRIE
Male, Early 30’s – 40’s. Any ethnicity. A successful Scottish Playwright with a rebellious, childlike spirit that is entirely benevolent. He is at odds with the sensible, restrained world around him. Must have an excellent pop/rock tenor voice a sense of humor, and a genuine heart. Must move very well.

CHARLES FROHMAN/CAPTAIN HOOK
Male, 50’s. Any ethnicity. A wealthy American impresario who has stood by Barrie for much of his career. Known as “The Napoleon of Drama”. Doubles as CAPTAIN HOOK- JM Barrie’s darker, alter-ego with a wicked sense of humor. Must have an excellent voice with a strong bari-tenor sound.

SYLVIA LLEWELYN DAVIES
Female, 20’s –30’s. Any ethnicity. A recent widow and mother of 4 boys, she encourages her boys to be free thinkers and is one herself. Must have a strong pop/rock belt and mix as well as strong soprano notes.

MARY BARRIE
Female, 20’s –30’s. Any ethnicity. The wife of J.M. Barrie, she cares about the trappings of society. She and her husband do not share the same interest and live progressively separate lives. Must have a excellent sense of navigating comedy. Must have a strong pop/rock sound as well as strong soprano.

MRS. DU MAURIER
Female, 50’s – 60’s. Any ethnicity. A socialite and mother of Sylvia, She holds social etiquette in high esteem and wants her daughter to do the same. Steely on the outside, perhaps to a fault, but wants the best for her daughter and grandchildren. She has a very dry sense of humor. Must have a strong alto voice with pop/rock sensibility.

GEORGE
Male, to play 12-14 years old. He is the oldest of the Davies boys. George is most sensible and mature though still able to play and have fun. Takes charge when he needs to. Must be a very strong mover and have an unchanged pop/rock voice

JACK
Male, to play 10-12 years old. He is the second oldest of the boys, He is the naughtiest and most outlandish, but even his cheek comes from a good heart. Must have strong movement skills and an unchanged pop/rock voice.

PETER
Male, to play 8-10 years old. He is the second youngest of the boys. Peter is buried under the grief of losing his father. Thoughtful and considered, initially angry and contained, he goes on a journey from 'not believing' to opening up and embracing the world of magic and play that Barrie presents to him. Must move very well and have an unchanged pop/rock voice.

MICHAEL
Male, to play 6-8 years old. He is the youngest of the boys, is also possibly the loudest and most confident in his actions and his statements. Unknowingly funny. Must have an unchanged pop/rock voice.
