FAT HAM

SEEKING:

JUICY – Male, Black, early 20s. Thicc. Beautiful. Smart. Soft, sensitive and a self-described empath. He is lonely and grappling with what this whole “growing up” thing is. Perhaps not the best with people. A kind of Hamlet.

TEDRA -- Female, Black, mid 40s – 50. JUICY’s mother. She is a good mother and loves her son deeply. Blunt, but fair. A kind of Gertrude.

REV – Male, Black mid 40s – 50. TEDRA’s husband. Her dead ex-husband’s brother. Pig farmer and pit master. Electric. Sneaky, hard, and cold. The kind of man who hires other people to do his dirty work. A kind of Claudius. Also plays PAP: the ghost of Juicy’s father. Appears 45ish. Black. Outwardly cruel and now seeking vengeance. A kind of Hamlet’s father.

OPAL – Female, Black, late teens – early 20s. One of JUICY’S only friends -- she loves and worries about him. Expressive. She’s just on the edge of figuring something out but not quite sure what it is yet. Prefers pants over dresses. She could kill someone if she wanted to. A kind of Ophelia.

LARRY – Male, Black, early 20s. Has a crush on JUICY. Awkward. A marine because he was expected to become one, but he doesn’t actually like fighting. Working through his PTSD. Has a secret. A kind of Laertes.

RABBY—Male, Black, early – mid 40s. LARRY and OPAL’s mother. TEDRA’s friend. Playful, loud and good with people. Semi-churchy but honestly she just wants to drink and praise the Lord. She has plans for her children and Lord help her if they stray from the path. A kind of Polonius.

TIO – Male, Black or Afro-Latinx, 20s – 40. Black or Afro-Latinx. JUICY’S cousin and oldest friend. Clever and philosophical in a stoner kind of way. A kind of Horatio.
