SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Please prepare a classic or heightened language monologue, 2 minute maximum. Optional: You are also welcome to prepare a brief cut of a song of your choice, a cappella. We wish to hear singing acapella to reflect the minimal instrumentation that is used under performance conditions. Emilia is not a musical but there is music in the play. Please keep audition submission to 4 minutes or less.

BREAKDOWN
Emilia is a play with music based on historical figure Emilia Bassano Lanier, contemporary of
Shakespeare. All characters come from her life and/or Shakespeare's cannon.
SEEKING:
Ensemble (female identifying) - Up to six players to play multiple roles. Specific characters below
will be distributed based on final casting.
EMILIA 1 - Young Emilia Bassano Lanier, poet of the 14th century.
EMILIA 2 - Middle age Emilia Bassano Lanier, poet of the 14th century.
EMILIA 3 - Elder Emilia Bassano Lanier, poet of the 14th century.
Lady Katherine Howard - a woman of the court, friend-ish of Emilia, Lord Thomas Howard's wife.
Lady Mary Sidney - Countess of Pembroke, a patron of the arts.
Lady Anne Clifford - Emilia's student and friend.
Countess of Kent - Emilia' etiquette teacher at court.
Lord Henry Carry - Emilia's 1st suitor, 60+, father of her child.
Lord Thomas Howard - a member of the court, Lady Katherine Howard's husband.
Lady Cordelia - a woman of the court.
Lady Margaret Clifford - hires Emilia to teacher her daughter Anne.
William Shakespeare - Emilia's lover, poet and playwright.
Lord Alphonso Lanier - musician, Emilia's husband.
