ELF THE MUSICAL
SEEKING:
BUDDY: 25-35, male presenting, any ethnicity. Tenor (Ab2-A4). Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find his place in the world. He is a child at heart and that child-like curiosity makes him both endearing and gets him into trouble. Sings: “World’s Greatest Dad”, “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” and “The Story of Buddy”.
JOVIE: 25-35, female presenting, any ethnicity. Alto (G3-D5). Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely big heart. Sings: “Sparklejollytwinklejingley”, “A Christmas Song”, and “Never Fall in Love (With an Elf)”.
WALTER HOBBS: 50-60, male presenting, any ethnicity. High Baritone (A2-G4). Buddy's workaholic father is a children's book writer but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life. Sings: “In The Way” and “The Story of Buddy.”
EMILY: 40-50, female presenting, any ethnicity. Alto (F3-D5). Walter's wife is sweet and willing to take Buddy in, but she thinks he is crazy at first. Wishes her husband would spend more time with the family. Sings: “I’ll Believe in You,” and “There is a Santa Claus.”
MICHAEL: 12-16, male presenting, any ethnicity. Child Alto/Belt (F3-E5). Buddy's brother who is excited to have a new friend and brother. Unlike his parents, he embraces Buddy’s Christmas spirit, but longs for more time with his father. Sings: “In The Way” and “There Is a Santa Claus.”
SANTA: 60-80, male presenting, any ethnicity. Baritone (A2-D4). Just another workingman. Loves his job and Christmas, but also likes to kick-back and watch the game when a rare opportunity arises. A natural storyteller. Sings: “Christmastown” and “Nobody Cares About Santa (Reprise).”
DEB: 25-55, female presenting, any ethnicity. Alto (C4-C5). Walter's secretary, she takes an instant liking to Buddy simply for the novelty of it. Though she aims to please and is a bit of a suck-up, she feels under appreciated. Moves very well. Sings: “In The Way” and “Just Like Him.”
MANAGER: 35+, male presenting, any ethnicity. Baritone (B2-F#4). Buddy’s manager at Macy's. He is a good, friendly guy just trying to do his job and get by. Sings: “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” and “Nobody Cares About Santa.”
MR. GREENWAY: 60-80, male presenting, any ethnicity. Tenor (E3-A4). Walter's boss. He is what Walter will become if he continues down the path he is on. A tyrannical, workaholic who cares nothing about the people around him or who work for him. Sings: “The Story of Buddy.”
