Please prepare a 1-minute comedic monologue and a 32-bar cut of a contemporary musical theatre selection, or two contrasting 1-minute monologues. Also, bring your headshot and resume.

SEEKING:

Evan Hansen - Smart, sincere, and excruciatingly self-conscious, Evan prefers to hover in the background, a supporting player in his own life, too afraid to step forward into the spotlight and risk ridicule or, what might be worse, no one noticing him at all. Masc presenting, 18+ to play high school age. G2-C5.

Heidi Hansen - Evan’s mother. Overworked and stretched too thin, Heidi loves her son fiercely but fears they have begun to grow apart. She is prepared to do anything to repair the damage. Femme presenting, 30-40. F3-Eb5.

Zoe Murphy - Sensitive and sophisticated, with a sharp sense of humor, Zoe could care less about the status games and popularity rites of high school. She feels a terrible ambivalence over her brother’s death. Femme presenting, 18+ to play high school age. F3-E5.

Connor Murphy - An angry, disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember, an enigma and a source of endless consternation to his long-suffering parents. Masc presenting, 18+ to play high school age. C3-G#4.

Cynthia Murphy - Connor and Zoe’s mother. To Evan, she seems to be the perfect mother, nurturing, available, and willing to talk about anything. To her own children, it’s a bit more complicated. Femme presenting, 35-45. F3-E5.

Larry Murphy - Connor and Zoe’s father. Though often tense and taciturn, Larry shows a different face to the world, representing for Evan the dad he always wished for: strong, confident, and more than anything, reliable, someone to be counted on. Masc presenting, 35-45. Bb2-G4.

Jared Kleinman - Droll and sarcastic, Jared covers his own insecurities with a well-practiced swagger and a know-it-all arrogance. Masc presenting, 18+ to play high school age. D3-B4.

Alana Beck - Earnest to a fault, prone to melodrama, Alana hides a deeper loneliness beneath an ever present smile and an almost aggressive friendliness. Femme presenting, 18+ to play high school age. F3- E5.

JERRY LEE LEWIS - 20. Rock ‘n’ roll’s legendary piano prodigy and celebrated Last Man Standing. Masc presenting.

SAM PHILLIPS - 33. The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll and founder of Sun Records; discovered Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Cash, Perkins, and many others, including Roy Orbison and B.B. King. A towering and charismatic figure in American music. Masc presenting.

CARL PERKINS - 24. Lead guitar player, singer, the originator of one of the first rock ‘n’ roll hits, “Blue Suede Shoes.” Masc presenting.

JOHNNY CASH - 24. Singer, guitar player, a giant of American music at the dawn of his epic career. Masc presenting.

DYANNE - Mid-20s. An aspiring singer, Elvis’ girlfriend. Femme presenting.

ELVIS PRESLEY - 21. The first, and still, undisputed king of rock ‘n’ roll. Masc presenting.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY

First Rehearsal: August 2nd, 2027

Opening: August 27th

Closing: November 7th

SEEKING:

Gomez Addams - A suave man of Spanish descent who adores his wife and children and takes immense pride in being an Addams. Gomez finds himself trapped between his daughter and his wife, being forced to hide Wednesday’s big secret from Morticia. Masc presenting, 35-55. Bb2-G4.

Morticia Addams - The beautiful, leggy and mysterious head of the Addams family who believes strongly in family tradition. Morticia is unnerved thinking that Gomez is hiding something from her. Femme presenting, 35-55.

Wednesday Addams - Gothic big sister Wednesday who has her father’s heart and her mother’s sensibility falls in love with a “normal” boy who she brings home to meet the family. Wednesday is trying to balance her relationships with “strange” family with that of her new love and his “normal” family. Femme presenting, 18-25, A3-E5.

Pugsley Addams - The youngest of the Addams Family, Pugsley loves to be tortured by his big sister. He is lost trying to figure out his place now that she has a new boyfriend and family dynamics are changing. Femme/Masc presenting and young looking enough to play a young boy whose singing voice hasn’t changed yet. A3-F5.

Uncle Fester - Serving as the narrator of the show, Uncle Fester is lovable, childish, enthusiastic and highly incorrigible. Masc/Femme presenting to play ambiguous, 30-50, C3-G4.

Grandma Addams - Fun, quirky and feisty, Grandma always has a trick up her sleeve. Grandma is wise, wacky and sometimes a bit crass. Femme presenting, 40+ to play very old, G4-F5.

Lurch - A man of few words, Lurch is the Addams Family butler. His unmistakable commanding presence is accented by grunts, moans and deliberate movement. Masc presenting, 25-50, Eb2-E4.

Mal Beinecke - The uptight father of Lucas and cold-shouldered husband to Alice, cynical Mal meets the Addams with skepticism. He finds the Addams to be too bizarre for his liking and cannot fathom being related to them. Masc presenting, 35-55, C3-A4.

Alice Beinecke - Lucas’s mother and Mal’s wife, Alice is strongly devoted to her family. She presents herself as reserved and collected (even when speaking in rhyme) until she learns to unleash her wild side at dinner with the Addams. Femme presenting, 35-55, Ab3-G#5.

Lucas Beinecke - The hopeful romantic and son of Alice & Mal, Lucas has fallen in love with Wednesday and intends to marry her. He is optimistic and hopeful yet struggles to find the balance between his ‘normal’ family and the macabre Addams. Masc presenting, 18-25, C3-C5.

Ancestors - The Addams ancestors.
