CITIZEN WONG- A powerful new play inspired by the life and times of U.S. social rights activist Wong Chin Foo (王清福, 1847–1898), who wielded pen and pulpit to fight against the Chinese Exclusion Act and is being rediscovered as the First Chinese American.
ROLES SEEKING:
ELIZA STANHOPE, female 20’s, a railroad heiress and suffragist who has a lifelong affair with Wong despite her marriage. Also the Moon Goddess.
TOM LEE, male, 30’s; Wong's buddy, NY deputy sheriff, “mayor” and mob boss of Chinatown. Doubles as Kim Ark

WONG CHIN FOO, male 30’s, a civil rights pioneer and ladies' man who has a romance with Eliza Stanhope as he fights against discrimination. He becomes the Monkey King in his dreams.
LEIGH STANHOPE, male 50’s, U.S. congressman and railroad tycoon who runs for president advocating an anti-Chinese wall. Doubles as DENIS KEARNEY. Irish immigrant union leader and anti-Chinese demagogue.
VICTORIA STANHOPE, female 50’s; Leigh's wife, a paragon of Christian virtue. Also plays Helena Blavatsky and Alva Vanderbilt
VINCENT WELLS, male 30’s, Eliza's closeted lawyer-husband who finances yellowface theatrical shows.
