SEEKING

Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles. Some roles have been CAST or out on offer. However, for all roles CAST, actors may be considered for possible replacement if needed.

PREPARATION

For singing roles: Prepare a brief traditional musical theatre song, showing range. Bring sheet music; a piano accompanist will be provided. For non-singing roles: Prepare a brief monologue. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

Female, 20s, any ethnicity. A millworker and friend of Julie’s. Her horizon is no further than domestic bliss with Mr. Snow. Quicksilver, mercurial, ambitious, sexy, very funny. Strong singer: Legit soprano. PRINCIPAL – AN OFFER IS OUT FOR THIS ROLE

[ENOCH SNOW]
Male, 30s, any ethnicity. A fisherman who thinks big in his plans. Carrie’s beau. Dour, respectable, and ambitious in a small-town sort of way. Also an affectionate family type. Strong singer: Tenor. PRINCIPAL – AN OFFER IS OUT FOR THIS ROLE

[THE STARKEEPER/DR. SELDON]
Male, 50s – 70s, any ethnicity. A heavenly figure. Dr. Seldon is the earthy version of The Starkeeper. Wise, warm, powerful, placid, a guide. Non-singing role. PRINCIPAL

[MRS. MULLIN]
Female, 40s – 50s, any ethnicity. The carousel owner who believes that Billy Bigelow is not only her employee, but her property. Dark, scheming, sexy. Non-singing role. PRINCIPAL

[DAVID BASCOMBE]
Male, 40s – 60s, any ethnicity. The richest man in town and owner of the mill where Carrie and Julie work. Strict and puritanical. Good singer. PRINCIPAL

[HEAVENLY FRIEND]
Female, 20s, any ethnicity. Works with The Starkeeper to guide Billy. Calm and knowing. Good singer. PRINCIPAL

[CARNIVAL BOY]
Male, 18 – 25, any ethnicity. The head of the carnival troupe Louise encounters on the beach. Strong solo and partner dancer with excellent ballet technique. Good singer. PRINCIPAL
