Pablo Neruda: 60s, worldly, romantic, politically progressive, Pulitzer Prize winner, presidential candidate, and a rock star poet of the people.
Rosa: The widow González, 40s, tavern owner, savvy, mistrustful, and fiercely protective mother.
Mario Jiménez: 18, the postal carrier, romantic, innocent young man, clever and madly in love.
Beatriz González: 16-18, tavern server, naive, clever, innocent young woman, and madly in love.

SYNOPSIS: In peaceful Isla Negra, Chile, young Mario learns about life and love while delivering the mail to one of the world's greatest poets, Pablo Neruda. When the widow Rosa finds out that her beautiful daughter Beatriz is the object of Mario's affections, a battle ensues for the hearts and minds of the young lovers. In the background of this delightful romantic comedy, storm clouds rumble, as the political unrest of the early 1970s threatens to transform Chile forever.
