BREAKDOWN
SUMMER 2021 SEASON
Please note that we are actively seeking performers of all races, ethnicities and orientations. Bay Street is an EOE and we strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQ+ actors to audition.
The summer season at Bay Street will consist of concert stagings of three musicals that showcase the great range of Broadway – the delightful revue that celebrates the genius of Kander and Ebb, THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND, the newly updated docu-musical about America’s workers, WORKING, and the beloved Lerner and Lowe classic tale of passion, love and loss, CAMELOT, in an intimate story-theater based adaptation by David Lee. This will be a rep season, with some performers taking roles in all three productions, and some roles cast individually for single productions.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS - no roles will be understudied
Arthur in CAMELOT. Male-identifying, 30s. Any ethnicity. He is the “once and future king,” a thoughtful, loving and powerful man who dreams of a better world. But he is also human, struggling with his desire to lead his kingdom by example and to follow his heart. A nuanced, human and contemporary version of this great, legendary figure. Baritone.
Lancelot in CAMELOT. Male-identifying, 20s – early 30s. Any ethnicity. Handsome and strong. The greatest knight of Arthur’s court and also the king’s dearest friend. He falls in love with the queen Guenevere and struggles with the choice between the two people he loves the most in the world. Arrogant and full of himself at first, but with a deep soul, vulnerability, and sincere spirituality. Baritone.
Reveler/Knight in CAMELOT. Male-identifying, 20s – 40s. Any ethnicity. Will play various members of King Arthur’s court including one of his Knights. Any voice type.
Guenevere in CAMELOT. Female-identifying, 30s. Any ethnicity. Leading lady. The Queen of Camelot. Guenevere is a complex woman who thinks she knows herself. Full of joy, heart and passion, she values her own independence but also carries herself with dignity and grace. She has a strong sense of responsibility to her role as Queen, to her marriage, and to the people of Camelot. She is torn apart by her love for two men, and the impossibility of choosing between them. Soprano.
Tom in CAMELOT. Female-identifying, 8 - 13. Any ethnicity. The story of Camelot is told by the Revelers to this young girl, so she can carry forward the hope and message of King Arthur that “Might does not make right.” A good listener with poise.
WORKING TRACK 1 - Male-identifying, 50s or older. Any ethnicity. Various roles in WORKING including a hedge fund manager and the songs “Joe” and “Fathers and Sons”. Has great range and heart, transforms from a privileged member of the 1% to a gentle and slightly forgetful retired man. Baritone.
TRACK 1 - Male-identifying, 20s – early 30s. Any ethnicity. In THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND (TWGR), various roles in WORKING including the song “Delivery,” and Mordred in CAMELOT. Very strong actor with great range. Can be a bit of a ham, but emotional, loving, sometimes rash, and charming. As Mordred in CAMELOT, a wounded son who is now conniving and power hungry. Bari-Tenor to high G.
TRACK 2 - Male-identifying, 30s – 40s. Any ethnicity. In THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND (TWGR), various roles in WORKING including “Masons Song” and “Brother Trucker”, and Reveler/Knight in CAMELOT. A Romantic, serious and powerful with a commanding voice. Bari-Tenor to A.
TRACK 3 - Female-identifying, 30s. Any ethnicity. In THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND (TWGR), various roles in WORKING including the songs “Just a Housewife” and “Cleaning Women.” Strong, passionate, hopeful and tough.
