BLACK SWAN

Book by Jen Silverman
Music and Lyrics by Dave Malloy
Music Supervision and Direction by Or Matias
Directed and Choreographed by Sonya Tayeh
Based on the Searchlight Pictures Film Black Swan, Story by Andres Heinz

First Rehearsal on or around April 6, 2026
First Preview on or around May 26, 2026
Opening on or around June 3, 2026
Closing on or around July 26, 2026

SEEKING:

NINA: 20s-Early 30s; Young and fiercely ambitious, with the unforgiving intensity of a perfectionist. She contains both immense vulnerability and a streak that feels truly unpredictable and dangerous. Strong contemporary ballet foundation.

FINN: 20s-Early 30s; Charismatic, irreverent, sexually confident. A rising rockstar in the company who knows how good she is. Has a little bit of a bad-girl vibe, which might be what Leroy sees and recognizes in her right away. Strong contemporary ballet foundation.

MARGAUX LEROY: Late 40s/50s. A famous choreographer. Eccentric, magnetic, and compelling, a little anarchic in her vibe. She lives hard and works hard. She has a sharp wit and is tethered to her instincts in a way that makes her hard to look away from.

BARBARA: Nina’s mother, Late 40s/50s. A former dancer who had to give up all her dreams when she had Nina; is a few years younger than Leroy and was once in school with her. Barbara is driven by hunger, the desire to live her life through Nina’s achievements. She is fiercely on her daughter’s side, but defaults to pushing her farther and farther. If Nina achieves her dream of stardom, Barbara will feel like her own dreams were achieved. There is a resentment and a loneliness behind this fierce ambition.

JACQUES/ROTHBART: JACQUES: Late 60s, a powerful, commanding man who has run this company with a combination of strategy and sheer force of will. He is the old guard. ROTHBART: A creature of the night, and singer in an underground dance club.

BETH: Late 30s, the longtime principal dancer/star of the company. Poised, steely, hungry. She is starting to age out of her long and starry career, and she refuses to accept this. A fragility under her steel because when she loses this, she loses everything.

DOPPEL: 20s-Early 30s; Nina’s shadow-side, tethered to instinct, unpredictable, mesmerizing and dangerous. Please note, role is primarily dance-based, with some speaking and singing.
