BREAKDOWN

SWEET CHARITY

SEEKING:

CHARITY HOPE VALENTINE - ROLE IS CAST. Warm, charming, funny, and emotionally transparent, with an almost mythic belief that love will save her. Charity has a remarkable capacity to begin again after each disappointment. The role requires a true triple threat who can balance athletic physicality, sharp comedy, sensuality, and profound vulnerability while preserving the openness, hope, and emotional generosity that make us root for her.

THE LOVERS (OSCAR LINDQUIST / VITTORIO VIDAL / CHARLIE MANGANICCI) - All three contrasting romantic figures: Charlie is a freewheeling, self-absorbed playboy who robs Charity and breaks her heart; Vittorio is a glamorous but jaded international movie star, with unexpected vulnerability beneath the surface; and Oscar is a tender, but extremely neurotic and conventional man who – though he tries his best – can't help but stand in his own way. Strong comedy, vocal ability, and emotional depth. Baritone.

NICKIE - Streetwise, sharp-tongued, and fiercely protective of Charity, though never afraid to call her out. She has a toughness masking her own desire for a better life. Requires a charismatic singer-dancer, and a sharp comic. Mezzo with a strong belt.

HELENE - Dry, grounded, and quick-witted, with a clear-eyed understanding of the world. Requires a comic and superb singer-dancer who completes the trio of Charity and Nickie. Mezzo with a strong belt.
