Twelfth Night:
Viola: Age-20-35. Extremely resourceful, intelligent, and frank. She has a natural toughness that serves her well in difficult situations but on a level is a hopeless romantic. Classical training and superior skills with language a must. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition.
Feste: Age-open. Feste is a man of brilliant wit, a "clown" who in fact has a greater handle on reality than anyone else in this play. He possess an inexplicable sadness, but can cast that aside when called upon to liven things up for his masters. Classical training and superior skills with language a must. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition.
Sebastian: Age-20-35. A sweet rather uncomplicated young man. Sebastian is an idealist, loyal to his friends and a terror to his enemies. He is impulsive and will fall in love or fight at the drop of a hat. Classical training and superior skills with language a must. Actors of color are encourged to audition.
Orsino: Age 40-50: Highly romantic. A man in love with love. Orsino is essentially a solid, good-hearted individual, but has a tendency toward extreme self-obsession. Classical training and superior skills with language a must. Actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition.
Desire Under the Elms
Abby: 25-35. A woman with a voracious appitite. She is tenacious and unrelenting once she has decided what she wants. She has the ability use her sexuality to melt men. A childhood of abuse has formed her into a formidable opponent.
Eben: 25-35. A young man on fire with resentment. In the beginning of the play Eben is unaware of just how lonely and in pain he really is. Eben is an unsettling combination of vulnerability and toughness.
Simeon and Peter 30-45: Eben's older half-brothers. Two men who have slaved on the farm all their lives and know nothing else. They are very close and consider Eben an interloper and the enemy. They trust no one other than each other.
