Portland-based actors are encouraged to audition for the roles of Suzan, Coach, and Gabe.
American Fast is produced by Artists Repertory Theatre in the Ellen Bye Studio at Portland Center Stage at the Armory in Portland, Oregon.

Seeking:
No roles will be understudied.
Khady – A 21-year-old Middle Eastern American woman. A college senior. A point guard on her school’s Division 1 basketball team. She brims with brash, cocky energy. She almost always speaks at a rapid clip, thoughts crashing into one another. Has a strong awareness of their physicality.
Suzan – A Middle Eastern woman in her late 40s. Khady’s mother. She was born in Egypt, so she speaks with an accent. She is devoutly Muslim but does not wear a headscarf. She is grounded but slightly guarded and cautious.
Gabe – A 20-year-old Black man. A college junior. A forward on his school’s Division 1 basketball team. His energy is warm and openhearted. His speech is careful, thoughtful.
Coach – A Black woman in her 40s. The Coach of the women’s basketball team and a former player herself. Her demeanor is intense and unapologetic.

Runs: January 6-29, 2023 in Portland, Oregon.
