Breakdown
FILMING O'KEEFFE world premiere by Eric Lane directed by Martha Banta First reheearsal: June 24 (Glens Falls, NY) Performances: July 11 - 20 (Glens Falls, NY) MAX, 17 years old. Bright, creative, sensitive, yearning. Trying to make sense of his body, thoughts, feelings and the world around him. He is at an awkward stage where he is no longer a boy, but not yet a man. MELISSA, in her 40s to 50s. Attractive, down to earth, articulate, used to getting things done herself. Loves her son Max and can be fiercely protective. LILY, 17 years old, has her own unique style. She is smart, rebellious, and somewhat angry, with a genuine warmth and vulnerability underneath. MARTIN, 60s to 70s. An aging business man who had to fight for all he has gotten and can be relentless. He is friendly but beneath is a sense of loneliness and someone who has been through a lot. ___________________________ THE BAILEY'S CORNERS OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL new play by Hal Corely directed by Mark Fleischer First Rehearsal: July 24 (Glens Falls, NY) Performances: July 28 and 29 (Glens Falls, NY) (please note this will be a one week process with two public readings) SUNNY POPPER, 40ish: An articulate, entirely self-educated Virginia woman, circa 1959; brilliant, driven, yet possessing a nervous need to control that masks a well of intellectual and emotional insecurities; intuitive, empathetic – a potentially charismatic if inexperienced teacher; perhaps unaware of how effortlessly sophisticated she truly is, she can too readily rely on an acquired and self-protective hauteur; yet also innately charming – "sunny" – and at times, droll. THADDEUS POPPER, 40ish: Sunny's husband. A proud Blue Ridge reared WW II vet; a knowledgeable history buff and hardworking natural salesman, if admittedly limited in his own ambitions; still boyish for his age, guileless, self-effacing, yet not without ego, just now discovering his inner ham; philosophically upbeat, a lover of life, its possibilities – and his wife, whose many strengths he touts and fiercely protects, even when she's at her most exasperating.
