Equity actors for roles in A QUEER CAROL (See breakdown). Local Dallas area actors are encouraged to audition. Actors of all ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition as our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible. No roles will be understudied.

BREAKDOWN

A QUEER CAROL

SYNOPSIS: Set in modern-day Manhattan, the story follows Ben Scrooge, a prominent interior decorator, and his assistant Bob Cratchit, who endures the abuses of Scrooge while simultaneously trying to take care of his lover, Tim. With humorous twists on the three Ghosts, including an over-the-top drag queen as the Ghost of Christmas Present, this retelling through a queer lens follows Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey of self-discovery and redemption.

SEEKING:

• Scrooge - 50s-60 interior designer, intelligent, smartly dressed, stern. Contemporary version of the classic character.
• Robert Cratchit - 30s, a good soul, Scrooge’s assistant.
• Jacob Marley/Blake - 30s, handsome and very aggressive as Marley - all of Act One. Suave and smart as Blake - a playwright that reminds Scrooge of Marley in final scene of Act 2.
• Tim/Young Scrooge - late 20s-early 30s. Tim is Cratchit’s sweet and kind lover. Young Scrooge is college age.
• Ghost of Christmas Present - (any age) an “over the top” drag queen/also guest at Fezziwig's party.
• Woman #1 - late 20s-40s. Doubles as Christmas Past (as Marilyn Monroe), Carol - Cratchit and Tim’s lesbian friend, and Jean - (charitable fundraiser, love interest of Nick).
• Woman #2 - 30s-40s. Doubles as Svetlana - Scrooge’s Maid, Russian accent, Scrooge’s Mother - abused wife, Maria - Dominican woman, Carol’s lover, Dominican accent, and Nurse.
• Man #1 - late 30s-50s. Doubles as Scrooge’s Father - overworked abusive husband, Nick - charitable fundraiser (love interest w/Jean), Noel - flamboyant friend of Fred, Fence - rough Pawn Shop trader.
• Man #2 - late 40s-60s, Fred - contemporary of Scrooge, Fabric Salesman, Fezziwig - Scrooge’s first boss, campy, fun-loving queen, PyTor - Svetlana’s Russian husband, drunk, rough-accent.
