BREAKDOWN
BEN - Early to Late 20’s. Great actor/singer. High tenor voice. Contemporary, pop/soft rock, country western sound. Very emotionally open. Charming, but also complicated and vulnerable.
YOUNG BEN – 8-10 years old. Ben as a young boy. Playful and fun, but moved by the loss of his mother. Good singer/actor.
WILL - Ben’s father. 50-60. Strong actor/singer. Baritone or Bari-Tenor. A strong “mountain man” who has seen it all in his time. A heavy drinker who has his own baggage. Needs emotional weight.
MAGGIE - Ben’s mother. Late 20’s - 30. Lovely spirit. Open, warm, kind. Hides her health issues for the son’s sake. Strong singer/actress. Alto, folk-style singer with a strong belt, low range, a comfortable blend. "Yodel" up to high Gb in head voice.
JENNY- Early to Late 20’s. Ben’s girlfriend. Pretty, charming, sexy. Has a lovely voice and a fiery personality. Ages during the show from teenage girl to young mother. Mezzo with a strong low range. Contemporary, pop/soft rock, country western sound. Especially seeking actresses of color.
MALE ENSEMBLE– 20s-Early 30s. Singers who also move very well. They represent Ben’s community of family, friends and also play the soldiers that he goes to war with. Singers with a contemporary, pop/soft rock, country western sound. All ethnicities.
