Little Women plays in the Shoctor Theatre May 3 – 25, 2025.
The beloved March sisters come to life on the Shoctor Theatre stage this May in a heartwarming and visually stunning new production. Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy navigate childhood to adulthood while facing the trials of life in 1860s Massachusetts. Struggling to balance societal pressures and expectations with their own hopes and dreams, and united by an unbreakable bond, they embark on a journey filled with adventure, heartbreak and hope. Adapted for the stage by acclaimed Canadian playwright Jordi Mand, this fresh take on Louisa May Alcott's timeless novel explores themes of love, ambition and resilience.
Jordi Mand is known for her impactful contributions to the worlds of theatre and television. As a playwright, her work has been produced around the world, published, and translated into multiple languages. Some of her plays include Between the Sheets, Caught, and Brontë: The World Without. For TV, she was a writer on the hit CTV Canadian crime drama, Cardinal. This stage production of Little Women, based on the books Little Women & Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott, is directed by Jenna Rodgers, who previously directed Mary's Wedding: A Métis Love Story in Citadel's 2021/22 Season.
