Des Moines Community Playhouse Adds RING OF FIRE Performance, 4/21
The Des Moines Community Playhouse has added a performance of "Ring of Fire" at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Apr. 21. Tickets for this and the originally scheduled performances may be purchased online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, and at The Playhouse ticket office, 831 42nd St. "Ring of Fire" is sponsored by EMC Insurance Companies.
"Ring of Fire" celebrates the Man in Black, Johnny Cash. A gifted cast of singers and musicians presents 33 Johnny Cash hits including "Daddy Sang Bass," "Jackson," "Folsom Prison Blues," "A Boy Named Sue," "I Walk the Line," and, of course, "Ring of Fire."
Audiences and critics alike have been singing the cast's praises. The Des Moines Register said "...swaggering frontman Randy Burk sings with a mix of his own voice and Cash's gravelly baritone." The Culture Buzz called the show "top notch entertainment," and the Altoona Herald review spotlighted the "kickin' on-stage band." Melinda posted on Facebook, "Nice job guys! I saw Johnny Cash 68 times in concert. Randy, you did a nice job!" From Twitter came this comment from Jessica, "Standing O at Ring of Fire @DMPlayhouse! Awesome show!"
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
