DM Playhouse to Present MARY POPPINS, 12/5-28
The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents the family holiday classic, "Mary Poppins," Dec. 5-28.

The Banks family lives in a big house on Cherry Tree Lane in London. Things are not going well for the family. The children, Jane (Rachel Forney/Eliza Tutty) and Michael (Brenden Hinspeter/Pierce Mansfield), are out of control and have chased off their latest nanny. Jane and Michael have their own ideas about what sort of caretaker they should have, while their parents-and in particular their father-are insistent on someone strict for the job.
When Mary Poppins (Dani Boal) flies to their doorstep, the family finds that she's the answer to their prayers, but in the most peculiar way. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even Mr. Banks (Micheal Davenport) learns new things from the nanny who believes that "anything can happen if you let it."
The Playhouse production is directed by John Viars with music direction by Brenton Brown and choreography by Alison Shafer. The cast of 30 includes Nick Black, JohnPaul Burtch, Eric Deutz, Elizabeth Fisher, Brooke Greenberg, Susan Greving, Kayla Heckart, Michael Howland, Jennifer Jaschen, Seygbai S. Kai, Jim Kolnik, Amy Leonard, Lindsay Mickelson, Greg Millar, Rebekah Ostermann, Jalen Oudekerk-Green, Jennifer Phelps, Ken Reams, Maddie Ripperger, Jackie Schmillen, Alex C. Stark, Joe Struss, Sue Tell, and Marguerite Wildermuth.
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
