Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse for the Grand Renovation Open House, 1:00-3:00 PM, Sunday, Sept. 23. The event kicks off the theater's 100th season and is free to the public.

Visitors can tour the entire theatre, interacting with staff and volunteers in all areas of the building: light and sound booths, green room, classroom, and other newly renovated areas. This is the public's opportunity to go behind-the-scenes at the Playhouse.

Renovations began May 1, 2018, and are set to be completed for the Playhouse's 100th season opener, Billy Elliot The Musical, Oct. 5-28. The Grand Renovation was made possible through generous donations from more than 600 corporations and individuals.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.

For more information about the Playhouse and the open house contact the Playhouse ticket office at 515-277-6261.
