From national tours to Playhouse productions, there will be something for everyone to see in April. Read on to find out about the productions you can see next month in Des Moines.

Highlights include:

March 30-April 22 – The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents Ring of Fire for much of the month of April. The musical explores the life of Johnny Cash through his own music. The Playhouse also offers pre-show chats with members of the production team and post-show music and drinks on Friday and Saturday nights. For ticket information, visit http://www.dmplayhouse.com/

April 2 – The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines will announce the 2012-2013 Broadway Series with a special announcement event on the 2nd. The Book of Mormon, whose national tour kicks off in August 2012, was announced as a teaser in February, so expectations are that next season will be a blast.

April 22 – The Midtown Men stop at Hoyt Sherman Place for one night only on April 22nd. The group features four stars from the original cast of Broadway’s Jersey Boys singing hits from the likes of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and, of course, The Four Seasons. April 23 – StageWest will announce the 2012-2013 lineup at the end of the month. This past season featured such productions as Parade and In the Next Room, or The Vibrator Play. One can only speculate where the company will venture next.

April 24-29 – The national tour of Memphis makes a stop at the Civic Center for eight performances in the last week of the month. The rock ‘n’ roll musical, and winner of the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical, will no doubt get the audience's toes tapping. For ticket information, go to http://www.civiccenter.org/

With all these opportunitues, there is no excuse not to go to the theater next month. You know where to find me!
