The Edge Theatre Company will present the Regional Premier of Rajiv Joseph's "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo" August 30 - September 29 at 1560 Teller Street in Lakewood.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.; Sundays at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 - $22 and are available online at www.theedgetheater.com or by calling 303-232-0363.

The lives of two American Marines and an Iraqi translator are forever changed by an encounter with a quick-witted tiger who haunts the streets of war-torn Baghdad attempting to find meaning, forgiveness and redemption amidst the city's ruins. Rajiv Joseph's groundbreaking new American play explores both the power and the perils of human nature.

The cast includes Paul Page (Tiger), Sam Gilstrap (Musa), Kevin Lowry (Kev), Nathan Bock (Tom), Alberto Ocampo (Uday), Miranda Vargas (Hadia) and Yasmin Sweets (Iraqi Woman).

Rajiv Joseph is an American playwright and a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Joseph was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio; his mother is Euroamerican of French and German ancestry and his father is of Indian ancestry and immigrated to the States from India. He attended Cleveland Heights High School and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1996 with a B.A. in Creative Writing. While at Miami he was a member of the university's Men's Glee Club and its premier male a cappella group, the Cheezies. Joseph also competed for the highly decorated Miami University Individual Events (forensics) team. Following graduation Joseph joined the Peace Corps, serving three formative years in the West African Republic of Senegal, including two years in Koular and the third in Kaolack.

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo was chosen by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2008 as one of two Outstanding New American plays. On April 12, 2010 Joseph was named a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. The play, directed by Moises Kaufman, opened on Broadway in March of 2011, starring Robin Williams in the title role, garnered Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Tony Award nominations that year.
