Photo Flash: First Look at The LIDA Project's R.U.R./lol

By:
The LIDA Project presents "RUR/lol" directed by Lorenzo Sariñana opened last night, February 15 and runs through March 2. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays and Thursday, February 21 at 8 p.m. Get a first look at the show in the photos below!
R.U.R./lol is an original work based on a 1920 Czech science-fiction play called "Rossum's Universal Robots", which introduced the word "robot" into the lexicon. At the end of humanity four robots remain. Through their controllers they work to protect what remains of the planet from a catastrophic event. The process leads them to question how we came to this end.

Part play, part rock show, this production includes five technical performers running 13 video projectors in real time.

Ensemble: Rhea Amos, Hart DeRose, Laura Lounge, Heidi Pachner. Technical Performers: Lorenzo Sariñana, Dustin Lacy, David Lafont, Kenrick Fischer and Brian Freeland.

The LIDA Project's RUR/lol runs now through March 2, playing Fri/Sat @ 8 p.m.; Thurs., Feb.21 at 8 p.m. Tickets: $25 Adults; $15 Student / Senior; $20 Groups of +10. Call 720.221.3821 or email tickets@lida.org. All performances take place in the work space at The Laundry, 2701 Lawrence Street, Denver, Colo.

Founded in 1995, The LIDA Project is a meta-media art collective with a strong emphasis on live performance. The mission of the company is to present works that experiment and challenge the structure and presentation of performance while strengthening culture, community, and artistic growth. Working as a collaborative group of artists The LIDA Project promotes and presents works of the highest integrity and expressiveness without yielding to conventional presentation and stereotypes.
