Photo Flash: Firehouse Theater Company Presents SUPERIOR DONUTS
This comic drama tells the story of a young African American man with big dreams and his surprising friendship with an aging hippie who has soured on life. While audiences will laugh, they will also be encouraged to explore how people of very different backgrounds and experiences can find common ground. This play was the inspiration for the CBS sitcom with Judd Hirsch and Jermaine Fowler."Tracy Letts is one of the most accomplished playwrights of our times, and so you can't help but be fascinated by whatever topic or characters have inspired him to write," offers Director Christian Munck. "Instead of a story exploring what divides us, Letts has written a deeply funny and emotional blueprint about what unites us. He challenges us to consider what hardships each generation has had to struggle against. The burden of war, the horrors of poverty, the racial divides. The story really allows you to see how these issues can be shared experiences that open up dialogue and remind us what we have in common when discussing the 'American Experience.' And it doesn't hurt that the script is absolutely hilarious."
