Experience the fierce beauty of ballet on the Modern Stage, featuring the finest young artists from San Francisco and Denver combining their unique energies to create performance magic on the Colorado Front Range! This completely combustible company brings to life two bold new works by artistic director Gregory P Dawson:

fabbrica materasso d'argento

Set to original music by the youthful composer Alton San Giovanni, the ballet was inspired by Langston Hughes' masterpiece poem "Dreams," as well as daily working experiences in the historic Serta Mattress Company--now the home for the Center for Dance and Aerial Arts in San Francisco, CA, where the piece was created.

Born from a creative process reminiscent of the early twentieth century Surrealists, fabbrica enacts the dream-awake state experienced by the choreographer when fully immersed in the creative process, interrupted by the interpretations of the musical composer, and further shaped by the surprises offered by dancers who intoned their own notes into each phrase as the piece was set upon them.
Au Printemps Romantique
Apropos to the dreamlike qualities evoked infabbrica, the ballet is balanced and completed with a second piece: an abbreviated version of Dawson's Brahms. Aptly named for its accompanying music by the 19th century master of counterpoint and Classic composer of lullabies, Brahms finishes the performance with light yet electrifying passages that that leave the audience dreaming while most certainly awake.
