Talk about your perfect timing.

As Colorado's move to legalize marijuana continues to make national news and punchlines, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center seeks higher ground in presenting the hilarious piece of theatrical euphoria - Reefer Madness - The Musical.

Associate Director of Performing Arts Nathan Halvorson directs and choreographs this raucous musical comedy, inspired by the original 1936 propaganda film of the same name. It takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence. Regardless of where you stand on the politics of pot, you won't be able to resist the spoofy fun of Reefer Madness!

Our star-studded cast features Broadway veteran Caren Lyn Tackett (Rent and Hair), as well as New York-based actor Kenton Fridley, who recently played Stacee Jaxx in a production of Rock of Ages, and Kevin Pierce, who charmed us from the rooftops of London as Bert in the FAC's production of Mary Poppins.

Due to language, drug use and adult situations, this production is appropriate for ages 16+.

Tickets start at $20.

The show runs Feb. 12-March 1, 7:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets are available at csfineartscenter.org or at the box office, 719-634-5583.
