Peter Grimes does not fit. Society have their eye over the shoulder and whisper among themselves his name. Certainly, Grimes committed a crime? He was acquitted in court but is he guilty? Ellen Orford not listen cries. She wants to help Peter Grimes. But her loyalty is put to the test when the new rumors about a crime is spread between the houses.
What happens in a society where suspicions and rumors may hate to gro? What happens to the man whose name is on everyone's lips? Who is good and who is evil and what is really true?
Benjamin Britten's opera had premiered one month after the end of the war in 1945 and scored great success. With evocative pictorial and dramatic music, we find the choir in a supporting role as the Orchestra with its Four Sea Interludes. Britten is counted as one of the 20th century's greatest musical playwright and celebrating its centenary in 2013.
