Possum Point Players present a Christmas classic set to music with a production of Meredith Willson's musical adaptation, "Miracle on 34th Street, the Musical." Show dates are Dec. 2, 4, 4, 9, 10 and 11; Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $23; senior citizens and students ticket prices are $22.

Heavy advance ticket sales already indicate how popular this holiday favorite is. Director Jim Hartzell advises purchasing tickets early to avoid disappointment as the show dates approach. Tickets may be purchased online at possumpointplayers.org or by calling (302) 856-4560.

Meridith Willson's adaptation of this well-known holiday classic follows the familiar story told in the movie of the same name. A no-nonsense single mom, a professional woman, is raising her young daughter to deal with real life without fairy tales and flights of imagination. No Santa Clause and magic of Christmas, just the facts of reality for her precocious little girl. Ironically, Mom's job at Macy's puts her and her daughter in contact with the store's Santa, a gentleman named Kris Kringle. Yes, THE Kris Kringle.

Add a single and charming young man who not only believes in the magic of Kris Kringle, he also is susceptible to romance. Mix in a cooperative caring campaign among even rival department stores in New York, a new friendship between even Mr. Macy and Mr. Gimble and a judge who just might have to rule in favor of a belief in Santa Claus and the result is a heart-warming Christmas story.
