The Aluminum Show, a unique and energetic experience for the entire family, makes its Wilmington debut at the DuPont Theatre for four (4) performances ONLY Friday, January 14 thru Sunday, January 16, 2011. The production is a stimulating tour de force which combines movement, dance and visual theater. For more than seven years, talented dancers and actors have been brilliantly breathing life into silver and aluminum-toned industrial materials, mesmerizing audiences across the globe.
Ahead of the highly anticipated 2011 US tour, producers have guaranteed a never-seen-before extravaganza. Following rigorous auditions in New York, ten outstanding performers were selected to join the show's cast, and together with a fresh script and a long list of world-class creative, management and production personnel, The Aluminum Show is set for a wildly explosive tour.
The Aluminum Show debuted in 2003, and since has been seen by hundreds of thousands of people, in numerous locations: United States, England, Scotland, Germany, France, Holland, Greece, Portugal, Argentina, Mexico, Columbia, Turkey, Israel, Russia, Macau, Nigeria, Romania, Spain and more. In the summer of 2008, The Aluminum Show packed in a capacity crowd at the largest theater for 25 consecutive nights. The show quickly became the biggest hit in the 2008 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and received rave reviews: "One of the most visually stunning performances" (BBC news); "Like the metal itself, the energetic, impressively coordinated performers seem lightweight and malleable"
(The Independent newspaper); "This is one of the most weirdly innovative shows you could hope to see at the Fringe, any year" (The List magazine).
The Aluminum Show first arrived to the United States, and put on more than 60 performances at the "Trump Plaza" in Atlantic City. In the second US visit in 2010, the 50-show tour received excellent reviews: "A fascinating, family-friendly, fun and interesting show...incredibly interactive from the front of the theatre all the way to the back... very visual... the energy is amazing... something I've never seen before" (Fox News TV); "The Aluminum Show does everything you can possibly imagine with its star element... kids will go crazy over this silver-and-black spectacle" (TheaterMania); "The Aluminum Show certainly makes you take another look at everyday, inanimate objects - like aluminum foil - as it brings them to life in this hypnotic performance" (The Clog).
The combination of dance, theater and puppetry, spiced with a healthy helping of humor, is the essence of creating this powerful spectacle. The Aluminum Show uses recovered materials from industrial factories that are re-used to build the set, dress the cast and interact with the audience. Industrial materials are given new and surprising contexts, as they transform into cast members. When visual effects, lighting manipulations and enchanting music are brought together, all senses are on high alert. And with sights and sounds that overcome any language barrier, this family-friendly show provides entertainment for anyone and everyone.
