Possum Point Players Tickets For 'FrUiTCaKeS' Going Faster Than Hotcakes

By:

Tickets are going fast for Possum Point Players production of the holiday comedy "FrUiTCaKeS;' two performances are already sold out. To avoid missing this fun family friendly show, Director John Hulse advises purchasing remaining tickets soon.

Production dates are December 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 at Possum Hall in Georgetown; Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees are sold out. But patrons are encouraged to check the PPP office for cancellations. Tickets are $23 for adults and $22 for students and seniors. Tickets available online at www.possumpointplayers.org and also by phone at 302-856-4560.

With Christmas coming in the little town of McCord's Ferry, the holiday pace is stepping up as tree sales, fruitcake baking and the local pageant all come together with a boisterous bang. A runaway teenager, played by Braeden Swain, has no idea of what kind of Christmas carousel he is landing on when he seeks shelter in a welcoming barn.

Chuck Rafferty, playing Mack the barn owner, offers food, shelter and some sage advice. However, even his wisdom and downhome philosophy can't prepare the teenager for learning to bake fruitcakes and mix up eggnog with two feuding spinster sisters, Miss Sara, played by Karen Fitzpatrick of Magnolia, and Miss Alice, played by Rosanne Pack of Milford. He soon is an unwilling partner as eggs are cracked and whisked, flour flies out of the sifter and lots of mysterious "flavoring" flows into the mixtures in the sisters' stage kitchen.

This sweet, silly and mouthwatering Christmas show is Possum Point Players' holiday gift to the community. There are some sweet messages stirred in with the fruitcake and the eggnog concoctions that are cooked up on stage. There are also Buster the Christmas Hog cookies on sale in the lobby and the chance to win special fruitcakes that will be raffled off.

Director Hulse reminds people the show is suitable for all audiences and the humor and the subtle lessons of acceptance and of letting go of past strife span all ages and beliefs.

'Fruitcakes' is presented through special arrangements with Dramatic Publishing.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
