About BALLET FOLKLORICO ALEXA ZOZAYA LLC

Maestra Alexa Zozaya is the founder and Artistic Director of Ballet Folklorico Alexa Zozaya (BFAZ) in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to that, she was Artistic Director for Grupo Folklorico Miztontli at the University of Arizona from 2018 to 2022. Alexa has performed across the U.S. Southwest, including California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as in South America and several states in Mexico.

Alexa has over 20 years of experience dancing in the style of Mexican ballet folklórico and is certified as a “Specialist in Traditional Mexican Dance Techniques'' by the Ballet Folklorico del Estado de Veracruz and the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) in Mexico. Additionally, she is a member of the Sonora state delegation of the Asociación de Coreógrafos Folkloristas de México, A.C. (ACFMAC) and was an Assistant Instructor for the Tucson International Mariachi Conference (TIMC) in 2022.
