Winspear Opera House Presents IN THE HEIGHTS,Thru 3/25

The Winspear Opera House welcomes the national tour of the Broadway hit, IN THE HEIGHTS, for a two week engagement through March 25th. 

IN THE HEIGHTS is an award-winning Broadway hit told through a salsa and hip-hop-flavored score about immigrant dreamers in Washington Heights. The musical explores the joys, heartbreaks and bonds of a Latino community struggling to redefine home.

The original production, starring Lin-Manuel Miranda, who played the lead role of Usnavi, and wrote the music and lyrics, opened on Broadway in March 2008. It went on to play over 1,180 performances before it closed in January 2011. IN THE HEIGHTS was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and 13 Tony Awards, including best musical, which it won.  Prior to the Broadway run, IN THE HEIGHTS played Off-Broadway in 2007

The original tour of IN THE HEIGHTS launched in 2009 and ran for nearly two years before it closed in 2011 - from that, a tour ran in the Phillipines before the second national tour began in 2011.
