PrismCo Movement Theatre's 2016 production of Animal v. Machine is coming back to Dallas this spring - this time, as a touring show and groundbreaking community engagement and theater project.

In January, PrismCo was awarded with a $10,000 grant from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs to produce the show in communities in the Dallas area with low access to the arts.

Co-founders Jeff Colangelo and Katy Tye will produce and direct this critically acclaimed show in three separate venues across the South and West Dallas areas for six weekends, with performances running March 31-May 21, 2017.

Bruises: Animal vs. Machine is a ruthlessly vivid portrait of two passionate women as they compete for glory in the ring. Through a brutally soulful blend of fighting and dance, secrets are revealed and past wounds are re-opened in this awe-inspiring wordless piece.

Each hit and blow these women trade cracks open a new layer behind their drive to be in the ring, transforming this match from a rowdy celebration of violence to a poignant exploration of what fuels us to fight for what we want.

This 60-minute production of Bruises: Animal vs. Machine will run March 31-May 21, 2017, all at 8pm. The first weekend of performances will take place at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center and the other locations are to be announced.

Tickets for Bruises: Animal vs. Machine are available online at www.prismco.org or by calling (608) 957-7476. General admissions are free with reservation. VIP tickets are Pay-What-You-Want.

Jeff Colangelo and Katy Tye, two rising Dallas artists founded Prism Co Movement Theatre after meeting at Southern Methodist University and working together on a few pop-up shows around town. In each of their shows, PrismCo chooses a unique and specific material to play with - paint, light, sand, gold, water, paper, to name a few. Jeff, as fight choreographer, and Katy, as an aerial silks specialist found that their theatrical aesthetic was based fully by using movement to express a narrative. After developing several performances containing little to no dialogue, Prism Co Movement Theatre was formed. PrismCo Movement Theatre believes in storytelling through choreography, blocking and staged combat. They believe that each motion is a piece of text.
