ONE MO’ TIME Leads Jubilee Theatre's Spring Season; Runs 4/2-4/25

Jubilee Theatre continues the 2009-2010 season, the company's 29th, with One Mo' Time - An Evening at the Lyric 1926, a rousing musical with music that celebrates Black vaudeville of the 1920s. Jubilee's production is directed by Tyrone King with musical direction by Joe Rogers. The original production of One Mo' Time played for over three years at the Village Gate Off-Broadway in 1979 before it was brought back to acclaim in the 2002 Broadway season.

The show is set in 1926 at the Lyric Theater in New Orleans, a bastion of black entertainment. The rags, Charlestons, cakewalks, bluesy ballads and boogie woogies of the place and period are savory. This show's powerful mix of music, including Tiger Rag, He's Funny That Way and A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight' had one reviewer exclaiming "the mercury leaves the thermometer. One Mo' Time is a hot, wild, ribald and rousing delight."-- Time Magazine.

This sizzling spring production features a cast of eight including Jubilee favorites Robert Rouse, Sheran Goodspeed Keyton, Aaron Petite, Crystal Williams, May Allen, as well as newcomers Aubrey Stephenson, Natasha Mason, and Kesha Carter. Set design is by George Miller, costume design is by Drenda Lewis, choreography is by Sheran Goodspeed Keyton, and lighting design is by Nikki DeShea Smith. Joe Rogers, Jubilee's celebrated Music Director, leads the Jubilee jazz ensemble.

Single tickets for this production are on sale now. One Mo' Time opens April 2 and runs through April 25, 2010. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $23 for the run of the production. The Thursday Night Special will continue with $10 tickets if purchased online or at the door the night of the performance.
