Dallas Arts District Invites You To Celebrate The Holidays With Them

The Dallas Arts District celebrates the holiday season with "Holiday in the Dallas Arts District" on Tuesday, December 7 with a variety of holiday-themed activities suitable for the entire family from 11 am until 7:30 pm. From cookie decorating to Grinch-themed activities to shopping and carriage rides, the Dallas Arts District will usher in the holiday season, capped off with free outdoor holiday performances and a spectacular tree lighting at 6 pm.

The museums in the Dallas Arts District-the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center and Crow Collection of Asian Art are-are all participating in the District's first holiday celebration with special programming and discounts in their museum stores. The day concludes with the first annual AT&T Performing Arts Center's Tree Lighting Ceremony, presented by Magic Moments, in the Center's Sammons Park at 6 pm, followed by opening night of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Musical, presented by the AT&T PAC as part of its Lexus Broadway Series.

Dallas Museum of Art First Tuesday: Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!
"Holiday in the Dallas Arts District" begins at the Dallas Museum of Art, with a lineup of holiday and Grinch-themed activities as part of its First Tuesday, with free admission throughout the day and extended hours, remaining open until 6 pm:

Art-making activity
11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Art Studio
Drop in and create a Dr. Seuss-inspired hat.

Meet Arturo
11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Arturo's Nest
Say hello to Arturo, the Museum's family mascot.
Holiday photo shoot
11:00 a.m-2:00 p.m., Tech Lab
Pose in front of a wintry scene and take a family picture. From 11:00 a.m. to noon, take your photo with the Grinch himself!

Stop by to enter a raffle for tickets to Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical, playing at the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Oh the Places You'll Go! family tour
12:30-1:00 p.m., Meet at the Center for Creative Connections entrance
Use your imagination to search for Dr. Seuss-like characters and places as we explore works of art in this interactive, family-friendly tour.

Story time with the Dallas Public Library
1:00-1:30 p.m., C3 Theater
Listen to enchanting stories told by our librarian friends and participate in an Every Child Ready to Read mini-workshop.

Mister Mark puppet show
1:30-2:00 p.m., Center Space
Laugh, sing, and dance with Mister Mark and his cast of zany characters in a show sure to put a smile on your face.

Cookie Decorating with Chef Brian
3:00-4:30 p.m., Atrium Café
Decorate your own holiday-shaped sugar cookies with Chef Brian, who will also lead an interactive demonstration.

Self-Guided Tours to the Collection - the holiday edition: "Seeing Red" and "All That Glitters"
It's a big Museum so enjoy your visit with one of these bite-sized tours.

Museum Gift Store Discounts
For those looking to find unique gifts, the museum stores of The Dallas Museum of Art, Crow Collection of Asian Art and Nasher Sculpture Center will offer 10% discounts from 3 until 6 pm.

AT&T Performing Arts Center Tree Lighting, presented by Magic Moments
At 6 pm, the "Holiday in the Dallas Arts District" celebration moves to the AT&T Performing Arts Center Elaine D. and Charles A. Sammons Park. Outdoor performances by local groups including the Brookhaven College Handbell Ensemble, the Dallas International School Choir and the Dallas String Quartet are all in anticipation of the first annual lighting of the Center's 30-foot Christmas tree. Cast members from The Grinch will also make a special appearance in Sammons Park prior to the 7:30 pm opening night performance.
