OCPAC Presents Free Live Performance from IN THE HEIGHTS Tour Cast, 8/2
The Orange County Performing Arts Center's enormously popular "FREE Movie Mondays" on the community plaza continues its series with a big-screen presentation of the 1987 hit film DIRTY DANCING on Monday, August 2. Before the start of the movie, members from the national tour of IN THE HEIGHTS will present a free live performance from the show.
IN THE HEIGHTS, the hit Tony® Award-winning Best Musical will start its two-week run at the Center the following evening, August 3 and runs through August 15. The show recently played to large crowds at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood for an extended run that featured its original star and creative center, Lin-Manuel Miranda. (For the tour's stop at OCPAC, the role will be played by Joseph Morales).DIRTY DANCING is the fourth film in OCPAC's free outdoor summer film presentation. The film stars the late Patrick Swayze along with Jennifer Grey, Cynthia Rhodes, and Jerry Orbach. The massive box office hit tells the tale of a young woman's coming of age while vacationing in the Catskills in the summer of 1963. There, she (Grey) rebels against her parents by falling in love with the resort's resident dance instructor, played by Swayze. The movie introduced the craze of "dirty dancing" as well as a slew of hit songs from its multi-platinum selling soundtrack. It has also spawned a stage musical version that is currently on tour.OCPAC.org, at the Center's Box Office, or by calling 714.556.2787.For more information, visit OCPAC.org.
