ERIC(A) Kicks Off Theatre Out's 2014 Pride Series This Weekend

By:

Theatre Out, Orange County's gay and lesbian theatre company, will open the 2014 season with Matthew Ivan Bennett's ERIC(A). Under the direction of Jerry Rapier and starring Teresa Sanderson, ERIC(A) is a co-production with Utah's Plan-B Theatre Company. The show received it's world premiere performance at Plan-B Theatre and has been showcased at the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York.

ERIC(A) brings humanity to the transgendered community by telling the story of Eric, who used to be Erica and examining and challenging gender roles and society's definition of love. ERIC(A) opens Theatre Out's 2014 season and the 2014 Pride Series. The Pride Series is a series of shorter run performances focusing on the works that celebrate the history and diversity of the LGBT community.

"We are thrilled and honored to be able to present ERIC(A) as part of our 2014 Pride Series. Simply put, this production is amazing and will touch the audience with it's raw honesty," commented Theatre Out co-founder, Joey Baital.

ERIC(A) is a one-actor performance that stars Utah's critically-acclaimed Teresa Sanderson as Eric. "Teresa Sanderson's performance is extraordinary...ERIC(A) builds a bridge between one person's story and a basic human quest to become the person we truly we want to be," reviewed the Salt Lake City Tribune.

Tickets for ERIC(A) are $20 general admission and can be purchased at www.theatreout.com or at the Box Office on the night of the performance. ERIC(A) is presented as a limited engagement of three performances: this weekend, January 3 and 4 at 8:00 pm; January 5 at 2:00 pm. An ASL interpreter will be provided at the January 4 performance. All performances are at Theatre Out's new venue at 402 W. 4th Street in Santa Ana. Peformances begin December 6, 2013 through December 21, 2013; Thursday = Saturday at 8:00pm, Sunday at 2:00pm.
