Press Release:

COSTA MESA, CA—Christine Andreas, whose career spans 30 years of Broadway brilliance from Oklahoma!, On Your Toes and My Fair Lady to The Scarlet Pimpernel, makes a return visit to the Orange County Performing Arts Center November 12 – 15 in Samueli Theater. Andreas, accompanied by her husband, composer and pianist Martin Silvestri, will perform her new show Two for the Road, which includes beautiful and distinctive renditions from the American Songbook, Broadway gems and original compositions. Two for the Road is Andreas' personal scrapbook of musical souvenirs and memories collected along the way. Andreas was last seen at the Center in the Tony®-winning The Light in the Piazza.

The New York Times says Andreas possesses "a blend of lyricism and sweet sensuality that only the finest Broadway voices can conjure," and The Sunday Mail writes, "Andreas is a class act. You will not see a greater female talent here or on any other world stage."

Andreas burst onto the New York theater scene starring as Eliza Doolittle in the 20th anniversary production of My Fair Lady opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company's Ian Richardson and garnering the Theatre World Award.

Andreas received two Tony nominations re-creating Laurey in Oklahoma! working with Billy Hammerstein and Agnes DeMilles, and as Frankie Frayne in On Your Toes, directed by the legendary George Abbott. Other Broadway credits include Words and Music with Sammy Cahn, Nancy in Angel Street with Dina Merrill, Rebecca in Rags, the short-lived Alice in the short-lived Legs Diamond with the late, great and wonderful Peter Allen and the Broadway-bound and derailed Erte production of Stardust. Andreas created the role of Marguerite St. Just on Broadway in the original production of The Scarlet Pimpernel opposite Douglas Sills and Terrence Mann. Andreas received rapturous notices for her portrayal of Vera Simpson in the Prince Music Theater's production of Rodgers and Hart's Pal Joey in Philadelphia. Philadelphia rewarded her performance with a Barrymore Award for Best Actress in a Musical and a soldout, three-week engagement of her one-woman show, Here's To The Ladies...

Collaboration with Silvestri and writer Joel Higgins led to her West End debut starring in their musical The Fields of Ambrosia at the Aldwych Theatre in London followed by concerts in London, Paris, Rome, Australia and the White House. The natural next step was to capture her music on CD. So once again in collaboration with Silvestri, a Grammy® nominated producer, they released Love Is Good; Here's To The Ladies, their second CD collaboration and a tribute to the great ladies of the theater, recorded in London with a 45-piece orchestra; and most recently The Carlyle Set, a sophisticated set of contemporary standards recorded with a quartet of New York's most outstanding musicians.

After the release of the CD, she returned to The Café Carlyle in New York for an encore performance and repeated it once again at The catalina Grill in Los Angeles.

Andreas recently completed a year-long, 24-city tour of the United States starring as Margaret Johnson in the National Tour of The Light in the Piazza. She was honored with a Helen Hayes Award nomination as Best Actress for this portrayal at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
