Yale Rep Presents METHOD GUN, 2/23-26

NO BOUNDARIES: A SERIES OF GLOBAL PERFORMANCES, presented by Yale Repertory Theatre (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) and World Performance Project at Yale (Joseph Roach, Principal Investigator; Emily Coates, Artistic Director), announces The Method Gun, created and performed by the award-winning theatre company Rude Mechs.
 
NO BOUNDARIES celebrates the diversity of voices and experiences in today's world.  NO BOUNDARIES explores-and explodes-the frontiers of theatrical invention through cutting-edge, thought-provoking dance, music, and theatre.  Tearing down cultural, linguistic, and geographic barriers, NO BOUNDARIES extends and enhances the educational mission of Yale University through a series of performances by artistic innovators from around the globe-right here in New Haven, right here at Yale.

The New York Times has heralded Rude Mechs as one of three companies in the country "making theatre that matters." Based in Austin, Texas, Rude Mechs creates cutting-edge theatre that defies genre and fuses together big ideas, cheap laughs, and dizzying spectacle. Now celebrating its 15th year, this ensemble-based company has produced 23 original pieces that have been presented throughout the US and internationally and earned over 180 local and national awards and nominations. The Method Gun premiered at the 2010 Humana Festival of New Plays to critical acclaim.
In The Method Gun, the diaries and letters of acting guru Stella Burden's followers are pieced together to recreate the company's nine-year rehearsal process for A Streetcar Named Desire. The Method Gun reveals the ecstasy and excesses of performance, the incompatibility of truth on stage and sanity in real life, and the indelible impact of mentors.  For mature audiences.
 
The running time for The Method Gun is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
