The Windham Theatre Guild proudly presents its next Main Stage production of the season...The Dining Room by A. R. Gurney, opening Friday, November 3rd at the Burton Leavitt Theatre in Willimantic.

One of A.R. Gurney's most eloquent plays, this classic from 1981 looks at American life and WASP culture by way of the dining room. Gurney's funny, touching, and thought-provoking vignettes invite the audience to see themselves and their families on stage. Should we go back to life revolving around the dining room table, or has the room become a relic? In "giving up" on dining rooms, what else are we losing? The Dining Room asks us to think about the roles of tradition and family in our modern lives, encouraging the audience to look at a possibly antiquated room in a new light.

Tina Huey is taking on her first role as a Director for a WTG Main Stage show and is excited about the challenge of taking a handful of actors and helping them to portray a total of 57 characters across 18 scenes from different upper middle-class households, spanning several time periods and linked only by a single dining room set.

The Dining Room runs November 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 at 7:30pm and Sunday Matinees on November 5 & 12 at 2:00pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic. Ticket prices are $19 for Adults, $16 for Students/Seniors, and $12 for children under 12. All UCONN, ECSU & QVCC students (with ID) pay the discounted price of $14. Group discounts are also available. Walmart of North Windham sponsors a Thursday night special. Anyone who buys a ticket at the door on Thursday, November 9th will pay the children's price of just $12 a ticket. This special offer does NOT apply to tickets reserved in advance.
