Wanda Jackson: the Queen of Rockabilly Plays the Warner July 6
Rockabilly legend, Wanda Jackson will appear at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre on Wednesday July 6 at 7:30pm.
An American singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist, Jackson made her name as one the first female Rockabilly and pioneering rock and roll artist in the mid 1950's and early 60's. In 1960, Jacksonhad a Top 40 pop hit with "Let's Have a Party", a song that one time boyfriend, Elvis Presley had cut a year earlier. Although initially her musical style was a combination of Rockabilly and Country, the 1960's brought a decline in Rockabilly popularity andJackson moved to a successful career in mainstream Country with a string of hits including: "Tears Will Be the Chaser for Your Wine", "A Woman Lives for Love" and "Fancy Satin Pillows".
Jacksoncontinued to tour and perform and has recently enjoyed a resurgence of popularity among rockabilly revivalists. She was introduced in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 as an Early Influence.
Tickets for this performance are $44 and can be purchased by calling the Warner box office at 860-489-7180 or online at www.warnertheatre.org.
