Barefoot in the Park is the funny and heartwarming romantic comedy about a newlywed couple who have just moved into a 6th floor apartment in New York City. Neil Simon's classic 1960s "rib-tickling" comedy, directed by Scott R. Brill, opens the 2009 / 2010 season.

Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He's a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she's a free spirit always looking for a new kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find... After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie's loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner where everything that can go wrong, does. Paul doesn't understand Corie - he's staid and she just wants to go running "barefoot through the park."

Making their Westport Community Theatre debuts, Barefoot in the Park stars Merrie Trout and Richard Cummings as Paul and Corie Bratter and Martin Ripchick as Victor Velasquez, the "Bluebeard of 48th Street"; WCT favorite Rosanne Nelson returns to the theatre in the role of Corie's mother, as well as Marc Hartog as the telephone man. Some of Fairfield County's favorite actors make a special guest appearance (alternating performances) - Bob Lasprogato, Tom Petrone, John Pyron and Frank Smith.
