Town Players of Newtown presents a special reading of CIVIL RIGHTS: FROM THE WAR TO THE MOVEMENT at the Little Theatre on Sunday, April 9 at 2 PM.

Written by members of the Garner Players at Garner Correctional Institute, CIVIL RIGHTS: FROM THE WAR TO THE MOVEMENT is two historical plays that use dialogue and poetry to tell the story of America's Civil Rights evolution from the Civil War to the 1960s. Historical figures and unknown soldiers reflect on aspects of the journey which continues today.

Directed by ElizaBeth Young of Newtown, CIVIL RIGHTS: FROM THE WAR TO THE MOVEMENT features the talents of Ken Anderson, Tony Benedetto, Matthew Cavataro, Rob Frangione, Kevin Harris, Karl Hingman, Randell Moody and Brittany Wallace.

Tickets for this special event are $10. Attendees are invited to stay after the performance for a Q&A with the director and actors.

Reservations may be made by calling the box office at 203-270-9144, or online by going to the theater's website, newtownplayers.org.

Town Players' Little Theatre is a community theater, currently in its 82nd season, located on 18 Orchard Hill Road, just off Route 25 (a mile north of the Sand Hill Plaza) in Newtown, Conn.
