TheatreWorks New Milford will present, as the season's third free staged reading, Jerome Bixby's THE MAN FROM EARTH.
As Professor Oldman is packing his belongings preparing to move to a new home, his colleagues show up to give him an unexpected farewell party. John, in response to questions from his colleagues, slowly reveals that he is a prehistoric "caveman" who has survived for more than 14,000 years. As the evening continues, the discussion takes a turn into the biological, physical, and ultimately metaphysical as John reveals that he was actually Jesus.Playwright and acclaimed science fiction writer Jerome Bixby created some of the most memorable moments of contemporary science fiction, including screenplays for television's The Twilight Zone, Star Trek, and the motion picture Fantastic Voyage. He first conceived the story for THE MAN FROM EARTH back in the early 1960s. This shocking and thought-provoking piece would come to be his last great work, as he finally completed it shortly before he died in 1998.Videos
