The Windham Theatre Guild Presents THE 39 STEPS, Opening 2/2

By:

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre, opening Friday February 2nd at the Burton Leavitt Theatre. This 2-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, handcuffs, missing fingers, some good old-fashioned romance and over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of 5).

The 39 Steps is a farce based on Alfred Hitchcock's classic film of the same name. With a small cast of actors portraying over 50 characters, hilarity ensues. Exploring the idea that every man dreams of being a secret agent that is the only person who can save his homeland, this version focuses on a very sparse set with pieces that are reused throughout the show.

Directing this incredible production is Rachel Leigh Roccoberton. Coming from a background that includes puppetry, Rachel is unafraid to play with props, lighting and scenery to provide all the aspects of this show that spans the distances of London to Edinburgh, from the train station to the airplane chase on the moors of Scotland. Rachel holds a BA in Dance and Theater with concentrations in Acting and Directing from Muhlenberg College in Allentown PA. She is currently the coordinator of EASTCONN's Capitol Theater Arts Academy where she has the pleasure of producing and choreographing four shows each year for children including The Snow Queen, The Nutcracker, 13, Singin' in the Rain, and Disney's Aladdin Jr.. With Windham Theater Guild she has choreographed Wizard of Oz, Aida, And the World Goes Round, and Leader of the Pack.

WTG will present only 6 performances of The 39 Steps running February 8, 9, 15 & 16 at 8:00pm, Thursday, February 14 at 7:30pm, and Sunday Matinees on February 10 & 17 at 2:00pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic. Ticket prices are $17 for Adults, $14 for Students/Seniors, and $12 for children under 12. All UCONN, ECSU & QVCC students pay the discounted price of $10. Group discounts are also available. For reservations and information, call the Windham Theatre Guild at 860-423-2245 or buy your tickets on-line at windhamtheatreguild.org.
